DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION of the 1930s, the Federal Government produced a wonderful series of guidebooks under the auspices of the Works Progress Administration. Every state had one, and, in optimistic anticipation of auto tourism, they took the reader on various tours, progressing from point to point as would a motorist. Our book follows a similar format, albeit in far greater detail.
